Telemedicine Q & A

What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine is medical care that you can access from nearly anywhere. Electronic connections (computers, cellphones, and other devices such as tablets) now allow doctors and patients to meet, talk, and manage treatment virtually.

At Pacific View Recovery, Dr. Mann always knew he wanted to include telemedicine as one of the cornerstones of his practice because he really focuses on patient-focused care that’s accessible for everybody.

Telemedicine allows him to keep up with patients easily and give them the complete care they deserve.

When is telemedicine needed?

Pacific View Recovery specializes in addiction medicine. Dr. Mann treats substance use disorder (SUD), which includes an array of conditions, such as:

  • Opioid use disorder
  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Sedative use disorder
  • Stimulant use disorder

All SUDs require customized treatment. Telemedicine is one of the major aspects of that customized care in many cases.

While SUD treatment is unique to every patient, most patients use the medication-assisted treatment (MAT) path to stay sober.

With this path, Dr. Mann prescribes medications such as Suboxone® (daily dissolvable oral films), which you take at home, or monthly injections like Vivitrol® or Sublocade®

While some aspects of treatment necessarily take place in the Pacific View Recovery office, you also have monitoring visits and check-ins between your visits. Those appointments usually happen through telemedicine.

What is the telemedicine process?

Telemedicine traditionally means live video calls with your medical provider. However, Dr. Mann understands that it might not always be convenient or possible to access the internet, so he also offers audio-based visits. All you need is a phone.

A few minutes ahead of your appointment, just follow the directions from Pacific View Recovery to log into a virtual waiting room or wait for a call from Dr. Mann.

Your telemedicine visit includes a discussion about your treatment, updating your treatment plan if needed, and the chance to ask questions and get any type of addiction medicine support you need.

The practice strongly focuses on excellent digital patient experiences, just as they always strive to provide exemplary care in the office.

Telemedicine gives you access to a more in-depth recovery experience, and provides easy access to a premier addiction medicine expert without leaving home. Book an appointment with the online feature or phone the office now.
